Contour Blind

Working with the teen program at the Santa Barbara Museum of art, we created a drawing blind. This object functioned to block the drawer from their drawing. We had several hundred high school and junior high students visiting the museum to see the various exhibits. The teen interns of the museum lead the visiting students in a drawing exercise. Working with a partner each group would take turns as the drawer and the model. The drawer would reach though one of the portals and the model would place an awkward drawing tool in their hand and then hold a sheet of paper under the tool. The drawer was to do a blind contour of their model partner. The groups of students launched bravely into the project and soon were creating nifty renderings of their friends. Thanks to to the Santa Barbara Museum of Art Education Department and the Teens 4 Teens interns.
